ChefsGiving Gala to benefit North Bay fire victims

You can help. Together, we can make a huge impact.

On Sunday, November 19th from 3PM-7PM, Freeman Winery will participate in the ChefsGiving Gala at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Chaired by Debbie Zachareas of Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant, the event will be hosted by Liam Mayclem and Leslie Sbrocco, and will feature wine from 50 wineries across California and the world, and food by restaurants in the Ferry Building. They will also launch the inaugural Chef Humanitarian of the Year Award at the Gala, presented by Williams-Sonoma.

Goal: To raise at least $1 million for those in need of temporary and long-term housing throughout Wine Country

The fires in the North Bay have hit home for all of us in the restaurant industry, both in California and throughout the country. Wine Country is where many of us live, work, play and get away. The region provides wine, produce, meat, dairy and so much more for our restaurants, hotels and bars.

Many of us are looking for meaningful ways to contribute to the recovery effort, and ways we can mobilize to help raise much-needed funds to help the affected communities rebuild.

Ticket prices are $195 for VIP entrance at 3PM to enjoy an hour featuring more exclusive tastings with vintners and mingling with chefs (250 tickets available) and $125 for General Admission 4PM-7PM (750 tickets available).

West Sonoma Coast in California's Northern California is home to Freeman Wines. The ocean proximity creates an ideal climate for growing their small lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Winemaker Akiko Freeman uses a light, elegant touch to craft small lots from estate grown fruit and other local small vineyard neighbors. This family owned winery has made premium quality consistently awarded wines since 2001.
“…Every wine in the range is well worth taking a look at…The wines are done in a forward succulent style that balances the natural generosity of the Russian River with a real sense of finesse and restraint..." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2017

The guest chef is former Top Chef contestant Tiffani Faison of Tiger Mama and Sweet Cheeks in Boston. The day will be a dance with the tide as we carry all our heavy stuff - tables, chairs, glasses, cutlery - out to the sandspit. Sometimes you find the perfect site and the perfect hosts. This is it! Freeman Wine Dinner with Moody's Backroom

Mingle and dine with Ken and Akiko Freeman and experience their handmade small-lot West Sonoma Coast wines. The wines will pair with a special meal prepared by Moody's.
As its name suggests, chef-owner Joshua Smith (ex Tico) tucks this 50-seat eatery into the rear of his popular Waltham standby, Moody's Delicatessen & Provisions, serving a French-inflected menu featuring meats roasted on a copper spit, homemade pastas, and chops, fish and pizzas churned out of a wood-fired oven. The reclaimed lumber–filled space also boasts a wine bar with draft selections, the perfect complement to the house-cured signature charcuterie, also sold up front.

Happy, healthy animals, sustainable soils and grass-fed goodness - these are the goals of farmer Pat McNiff. Pat provides livestock with a life that allows them to express their natural instincts in a pasture environment. That means pigs get to root, run and play; chickens peck, scratch and crow; turkeys gobble and strut, and cows roam around eating grass out in the open air (not corn in confinement). Returning guest chef James Mark is a friend of the farm and a friend of OITF. We will set our long table in celebration.
